Can I Get Straighter Teeth With Veneers, or Do I Need Orthodontics?

Can I Get Straighter Teeth With Veneers, or Do I Need Orthodontics?

If you’ve decided that you finally want to perfect your smile and straighten your teeth, you’ve got more than one treatment option to consider, depending on the severity of your mouth’s unique situation.

Both veneers and orthodontics can be used to address crooked teeth in adults, but consulting with an experienced and accomplished dental expert, like Dr. Alistair Saeghi, is a must. He and the Modern Age Dentistry team ensure that you’re well taken care of, no matter what services you seek, and that the treatment you ultimately receive addresses your precise needs and goals.

Veneers or orthodontics for teeth straightening: Which do I choose?

If you visit Dr. Saeghi for advice on the best way to straighten your smile, the most important thing he considers is your individual situation. The severity of your alignment issues is a major determinant as he analyzes whether veneers or Invisalign treatment, which straightens your teeth with clear plastic aligners, or trays, is the better option for you.

The facts about veneers

Veneers are permanent, wafer-thin coatings that are custom-made for your teeth. Dr. Saeghi applies them over the course of two or three appointments. After conducting a thorough exam and taking X-rays of your mouth, he applies a numbing agent around the teeth that will have veneers applied.

He then removes a small bit of the enamel from your teeth, essentially “roughing the surfaces up” so the veneers will adhere to them successfully. Next, Dr. Saeghi makes a new impression of your mouth from which the new veneers will be created. The impression goes to a lab where the veneers are made.

When your veneers are delivered, you return to the office and Dr. Saeghi places them on your teeth using a strong dental cement. He also uses a special light to hasten the drying process and cure the veneers.

Before he does any of this, however, he ensures that each veneer fits exactly and makes adjustments if needed. You’ll be amazed at how well they match the shape and shade of your own teeth. The results are incredibly natural-looking.

Before you leave, Dr. Saeghi removes any surplus cement and makes certain that everything looks great, your crookedness is solved, and your bite is comfortable.

Aside from camouflaging discoloration, cracks, chips, gaps, and other tooth flaws, veneers can be a good solution for mild misalignments, like crowding, spacing, and some bite issues.

The facts about Invisalign

If your alignment issues are more severe, Dr. Saeghi may recommend Invisalign as the treatment for you. This treatment involves receiving a new set of aligners every couple of weeks. Over time, your crooked teeth are gently and precisely straightened, revealing a dazzling smile.

You need to wear your aligners, which are clear plastic and therefore virtually undetectable, at all times, except when eating and drinking or brushing and flossing your teeth.

People like Invisalign because it’s comfortable, you look good while you’re in treatment, and it’s effective. Additionally, you don’t have to schedule as many office visits as do those who wear traditional braces, which need periodic tightening. The treatment typically takes less time as well.

We also offer another aligner treatment platform called ClearCorrect that you can consider and speak about with Dr. Saeghi.

Whichever option you and Dr. Saghi choose to address your tooth misalignment, having straight teeth means you’re at reduced risk for gum disease, decay, and uneven wear and tear on your teeth.

Depending on your particular circumstances, either of these innovative solutions will straighten your smile comfortably, efficiently, and successfully.
