How to Keep Your Teeth White After Professional Whitening

How to Keep Your Teeth White After Professional Whitening

If black coffee, red wine, tomato sauce, blueberries, and other deeply-hued foods and drinks have dulled your teeth, you can restore their brilliance with professional whitening treatment — quickly and easily.

At Modern Age Dentistry, Dr. Ali Saeghi provides advanced whitening treatments for patients who want to smile confidently again. The method that he uses is safe, patient-friendly, and delivers dazzling results.

Many patients wonder, however, if the pearly smile with which they leave the office will last. Fortunately, you can take steps to ensure that your whitening results endure, and they’re doable and don’t require a lot of time or special effort.

What’s involved with professional teeth whitening — and does it really work?

At Modern Age, Dr. Saeghi uses the premier Phillips Zoom whitening treatment, which offers benefits others don’t have:

Before Dr. Saeghi administers the Phillips Zoom whitening treatment, he goes over exactly what to expect, discusses whether you have a tendency toward sensitivity with your teeth, and answers all of your questions and concerns.

He then makes sure the tissues surrounding your teeth will be unaffected during treatment and that your teeth stay separated by inserting a bite block (a device that keeps your upper and lower teeth from touching), a cheek retractor, and some cotton.

Dr. Saeghi next applies the whitening gel (no time-consuming or complicated mixing required) to your teeth for predetermined amounts of time, several times — with breaks in between.

After treatment, if you notice even the slightest hint of tooth sensitivity, Dr. Saeghi applies a separate gel, made for just this purpose, to relieve it.

Following this, you’re free to resume normal life again — just hold off on eating or drinking for half an hour.

Make your professional teeth whitening results last

Naturally, you want your newly brightened smile to last as long as possible — and with proper care, it will.

By incorporating some common-sense practices, your teeth will stay gleaming long after your whitening treatment.

1. Drink smartly

Don’t expose your teeth to the same things that stained them in the first place. When it comes to beverages that cause discoloration, like red wine, dark-colored juices, dark sodas, and coffee, among others, you don’t have to swear off them. Simply use a straw when you drink them, so the drinks aren’t washing over your teeth repeatedly.

2. Opt for a whitening toothpaste

Since you brush twice daily anyway, switch to a Dr. Saeghi-approved whitening toothpaste that will go a long way toward making your whitening results last.

3. Rinse frequently

Swishing your mouth with water after eating or drinking something that’s staining helps slow and prevent discoloration.

4. Keep coming in for professional cleanings

This also isn’t a time to skip any regularly scheduled checkups and cleaning appointments. The deep cleaning you receive here can get rid of surface stains that may accumulate after your whitening treatment.

5. Stay away from tobacco

Finally, keeping your beautiful, bright smile sparkling by refraining from smoking is a must. It’s yet another reason to stay away from cigarettes, in addition to the many other ways they hurt your health.

If you yearn for a whiter, more stunning smile, it can be yours with professional teeth whitening — and we help you make it easy to maintain.
