Used by countless celebrities to create camera-ready grins, dental veneers are available to anyone who wants a flawless smile. Veneers are thin sheets of resin or porcelain attached to the teeth, used to fix a variety of cosmetic and structural dental issues. Because they reflect light like natural teeth, others will probably never guess that you have veneers. Dr. Alistair Saeghi helps hundreds of patients achieve beautiful results with veneers at Modern Age Dentistry offices in Atwater Village, Los Angeles, West Hills, Canoga Park, Ojai, Oak View, Los Feliz, Woodland Hills, and Calabasas, California.

Veneers Q & A

What do veneers fix?

When we don’t feel good about our teeth, our confidence suffers. Even one unsightly tooth can mar an otherwise beautiful smile.  Veneers are a great choice to fix a variety of dental issues including:

  • Gaps between teeth
  • Teeth that are out of alignment
  • Severely stained teeth
  • Worn, broken, or cracked teeth
  • Misshapen or bulging teeth

How do veneers work?

The entire veneer process usually requires two or more separate trips to see Dr. Saeghi.  He can treat one or multiple veneers at the same time.

On your first visit, Dr. Saeghi examines you to assess whether veneers are right for your situation.  He then performs an oral exam, takes x-rays, and makes impressions of your mouth - which are all used to create your custom treatment plan.

If you decide veneers are right for you, Dr. Saeghi begins by numbing the area around your tooth with a local anesthetic. He then prepares your teeth for veneering by removing a small amount of enamel from the surface of your tooth. After the enamel is removed, he makes a new impression of your tooth. The model is sent to the laboratory where they will use it to create your veneer.

On the final visit, Dr. Saeghi checks the veneer inside your mouth to make sure the color, shape, and fit is right. He may adjust your veneer a bit to achieve the perfect placement. Your tooth is then cleaned and prepped for bonding. Next, Dr. Saeghi cements the veneer in place, curing it with a special light to speed the process.  He will finally remove any excess cement and double-check the veneer for fit, comfort, and bite.

Are veneers right for me?

Though veneers are a great option for fixing minor cosmetic and alignment issues, not everyone is a candidate for the procedure. Veneers might be right for you if:

  • You have generally healthy teeth and gums
  • You have enough enamel for the veneers to adhere
  • You don’t grind or clench your teeth
  • Your stained teeth can’t be fixed with regular whitening treatments
  • You have good oral hygiene

In a few short visits, with no discomfort, you can have a brand new smile. Call Modern Age Dentistry or reach out to us online to schedule your veneer consultation.
